A Course in Miracles (ACIM) reminds us that nothing real can ever be threatened and nothing unreal exists. If this statement is true, and nothing but Truth really exists, then right-minded thinking sees only the perfection which God has created. Right- minded thinkers choose to listen to the Voice for God, the Holy Spirit. For them, this world of time and illusions ends altogether. Wrong-minded thinkers listen to their ego and make their illusions real. In reality, both thinkers see illusions, but right-minded thinkers simply overlook and forgive that which has never happened. In every moment, we have the choice to invite the Holy Spirit to correct our mistakes, our wrong-minded thinking, and allow us to experience the peace of God.
What we often forget to do is to ask to see things differently, to ask the Holy Spirit what is the real meaning of something which has been said or done or experienced. When we do stop to remember to ask the real meaning of something, we start to experience a sense of peace and improved relationships with everyone. We see the Light which is present in everyone and in all things. We see as God intends for us to see, right-mindedly. We see our connectedness and abundance. Unfortunately, what many of our brothers and sisters in life don’t remember is who they really are and so they believe in scarcity, in lack. They believe that scarcity is their reality. Since projection creates perception, they project lack from their minds and then see it everywhere. They believe what they see with their eyes and hear with their ears instead of the invisible truth of our Source.
Our wrong-minded (ego) mind loves to have us make comparisons. It would have us think that we are better than other people because we don’t act wrong-mindedly like they do. The truth is, we are no better than any other brother or sister in life. We are not here to stand in judgment upon anyone. What we choose to see in others is what we really see in ourselves. Everyone is the same, although sometimes we don’t remember that we are. In any moment, we can choose to be angry or jealous while a brother in the same situation chooses to be happy. When you take your thoughts out of the realm of anger and unhappiness, and place your mind in the realm of God, you will know only peace of mind and happiness. Real joy is just being happy.
